I have been working since the early 2000s. I have studied Economics (University of Karachi; 2000) and International Communications (University of Leeds; 2005). Starting out as a journalist with She Magazine and The News, I then branched out into research in the politics sector, later moving on to the NGO and social development fields. Much of my work has centered on supporting efforts to promote human rights through action research, evidence generation, documentation and outreach to stakeholders. I currently work with The Knowledge Forum which I have co-founded with a bunch of colleagues. Here too, we have kept community at the centre of our agenda, producing knowledge-based resources around the themes of human rights and development, focusing on people and the planet.
I live in the chaotic city of Karachi, which is where I have spent much of my life. I care for a bunch of dogs who have employed me without pay for many years now. They, however, help me find peace and emotional stability so I am not sure who is exploiting whom. My other problem child is the city of Karachi whose degenerative state has impacted me on a deeply personal level. So, I am found fussing over it at every given opportunity. However, I plan to use this page and my other SM accounts to do things other than ranting over the state of affairs.
